Halloween 2009 - the day that never happened

We skipped Halloween this year. We replaced it with a one-week journey into the non-H1N1, or so they say. We survived. What a drag though. We'll hit Halloween up next year.

halloween parade

Rather than wear her vintage clown costume (circa 1980) that was worn by her Uncle Josh, Mom and Uncle Joe, Sonia dressed as a bratty two-year-old for the halloween trick-or-treat down Grand Avenue in St. Paul. Too cool, as always. We'll try the clown again next year.

last day of the 2009 farmers market

Farewell Mill City Farmers Market. We'll miss your Indian-spice mini-donuts, McDonner Muffin, Americano coffees, urban animals (they live on Boom Island) and local food and goods. We'll see you again in April!

Sonia's second year

I've been putting off making this slideshow of Sonia's second year. Time, of course, but also because I couldn't bare to see a year flash by so quickly. Because, this is really how quickly it has gone. Slow down're breaking my heart.

The fact that her papa chose the song makes it that much more heartbreakingly beautiful. I dare you not to tear up. Something about Sonia lately is making me so nostalgic for those early days. Maybe it's that she told me today - "You can't do that, Mama. It's not allowed. It's not safe." There is no baby left. It's all girl. Curious, mischievous, stubborn girl. With words for nearly every thought.

Marathon Sunday

We weren't running, but we were cheering!
