When I was pregnant and dreaming about our life with a baby I used to imagine the Sunday of the Twin Cities' Marathon. I envisioned a cool fall day, cheering on the runners by the river road. I imagined pushing a little baby in a stroller, wearing a warm fall jacket and drinking a cup of coffee. Today was marathon day. It wasn't the cool fall day that I imagined - I think the temperature was upwards of eighty degrees - the baby won't sit in a stroller, and it was much too warm for coffee...but it was more than I could have anticipated.
Sonia watched with wide eyes as the runners passed, her limbs flailing around in excitement. Sometimes I just can't believe that she's finally here. These truly are such special days.
