the view from above

Today was one of those inexplicably delicious days. Nothing spectacular, just all around goodness. The baby napped. It was 70 degrees and sunny. We walked to the market to buy dinner then walked to pick up daddy from the office. We spent the better part of the day outside. Before I had Sonia I never could have imagined just how special a Tuesday afternoon in October could be. This is what I want to remember when she is grown. These are the moments.

cloth diapers are for lovers

Last week we ran out of detergent to wash Sonia's cloth diapers for a few days and she was wearing plain old, drab disposables. After laundering her diapers one evening, I hung them on the drying rack by the window so they could dry by natural light. The next morning I was holding Sonia by the front window when I watched her eyes spot the colorful diapers hanging. In slow motion Sonia looked at the diapers, looked right up at me and gave me the biggest, brightest smile. Who can blame her?!

Tuesday night with friends

Last night our good friends Vanessa and Luc, Berit and Kennedy joined us for dinner. Vanessa and Luc came all the way from Paris for dinner, which was very generous of them.

Sonia woke a few hours into the night. She certainly didn't want to miss out on a party.

A few classic quotes from the night (because who doesn't like quotes?!):

"My parents tried to uninvite me to the party!" Vanessa, as Sonia
"Do you think she's so advanced because she knows how cute she is?" Kennedy, in total seriousness
"You have building on your face. It was Target. Target on your face." Luc to Sanjee (and Sanjee did, indeed, have a building on his face. Vanessa, please send the photo so that we can post it!)
